About the Cubic Feet Calculator

The cubic feet calculator finds the volume of a box-shaped space from its length, width and height. You can enter dimensions in feet, inches, metres, centimetres or yards; the tool converts them and returns cubic feet along with cubic yards, cubic metres and litres. Cubic feet are used for room sizes, appliance capacities, shipping and moving estimates.

How to use it

  1. 1Choose the unit your measurements are in.
  2. 2Enter length, width and height.
  3. 3Read the volume in cubic feet and the equivalent units.
  4. 4Copy, share or print the result with the buttons below it.

Worked example

a room 10 ft × 8 ft × 9 ft holds 720 cubic feet, which is 720 ÷ 27 ≈ 26.7 cubic yards or about 20.4 m³.

How it works

Formula

Volume (ft³) = Length (ft) × Width (ft) × Height (ft)

Applications

  • Estimating shipping container and box volume
  • Air conditioner BTU sizing (room cubic footage)
  • Concrete and fill volume estimates
  • Freight shipping cost calculations

Common use cases

  • Sizing a moving truck or storage unit
  • Estimating room volume for heating or air conditioning
  • Calculating shipping volume

Frequently asked questions
