1 m/s = 3.599997 km/h

This tool provides general unit conversions for everyday and educational use. For regulated, legal, or scientific applications, verify conversion factors against the applicable official standard.

About the Speed Converter

The speed converter changes values between metres per second, kilometres per hour, miles per hour and knots. One knot is exactly one nautical mile (1,852 m) per hour and one mile is exactly 1,609.344 m, so all conversions use exact factors. It is useful for driving abroad, reading wind forecasts, and physics problems that need SI units.

How to use it

  1. 1Type the value you want to convert.
  2. 2Choose the unit you are converting from and the unit you want (for example km/h to mph).
  3. 3The result updates as you type; use the swap button to reverse the direction.
  4. 4Copy or share the result with the buttons below it.

Worked example

100 km/h ÷ 1.609344 ≈ 62.14 mph. A wind of 25 knots is 46.3 km/h, and 10 m/s is exactly 36 km/h.

How it works

How it works

Values are converted through a common base unit for accurate results.

Common use cases

  • Converting speed limits when driving in another country
  • Reading marine and aviation wind speeds in knots
  • Converting physics answers to m/s
