About the OPS Calculator
The OPS calculator adds on-base percentage and slugging percentage into one number that captures both getting on base and hitting for power. An OPS above .900 is excellent, around .750 is average for a major-league regular, and below .650 is weak. Enter OBP and SLG as decimals.
How to use it
- 1Enter on-base percentage as a decimal, for example .377.
- 2Enter slugging percentage, for example .498.
- 3Press Calculate to see OPS.
Worked example
an OBP of .377 and a SLG of .498 give an OPS of .875.
How it works
Formula
OPS = OBP + SLG
Common use cases
- Ranking hitters quickly
- Fantasy baseball
- Season reviews
