About the Slugging Percentage Calculator

The slugging percentage calculator measures hitting power: total bases per at-bat. Singles count as 1 base, doubles 2, triples 3 and home runs 4, and the total is divided by at-bats. SLG rewards extra-base hits that batting average treats the same as singles.

How to use it

  1. 1Enter singles, doubles, triples and home runs.
  2. 2Enter at-bats.
  3. 3Press Calculate to see SLG.

Worked example

100 singles, 30 doubles, 3 triples and 20 home runs in 500 at-bats give (100 + 60 + 9 + 80) ÷ 500 = .498.

How it works

Formula

SLG = (1B + 2×2B + 3×3B + 4×HR) ÷ AB

Common use cases

  • Measuring power hitters
  • Calculating OPS
  • Comparing seasons
