About the Volume Converter
The volume converter switches between millilitres, litres, US cups, pints, quarts and gallons. It converts through the litre using US customary definitions (1 US gallon = 3.785411784 L), which is what most American recipes and product labels use. Imperial (UK) gallons and pints are about 20% larger, so use the gallon calculator if you need UK units.
How to use it
- 1Type the value you want to convert.
- 2Choose the unit you are converting from and the unit you want (for example litres to US cups).
- 3The result updates as you type; use the swap button to reverse the direction.
- 4Copy or share the result with the buttons below it.
Worked example
2 litres = 2,000 ÷ 236.588 ≈ 8.45 US cups, and 1 US gallon = 4 quarts = 8 pints = 3.785 L.
