About the Pixel to Inch Converter
The pixel to inch converter relates digital image size to physical size through the resolution in dots per inch (DPI). Inches = pixels ÷ DPI, so the same image prints smaller at higher DPI. Screens are typically treated as 96 DPI on the web, while quality photo printing uses 300 DPI. The tool converts in both directions and also shows the size in centimetres.
How to use it
- 1Choose pixels → inches or inches → pixels.
- 2Enter the size and pick the DPI (96 for screens, 300 for print).
- 3Read the result in inches and centimetres.
- 4Copy, share or print the result with the buttons below it.
Worked example
an image 1,920 px wide prints 1,920 ÷ 300 = 6.4 inches wide at 300 DPI, but measures 20 inches at 96 DPI.
How it works
Formula
Inches = Pixels ÷ DPI
Pixels = Inches × DPI
Common DPI values
| Use case | DPI |
|---|---|
| Web / screen | 72–96 |
