About the Pool Table Room Size Calculator

The pool table room size calculator finds the minimum room needed to play comfortably. It adds the length of a cue on each side of the table’s playing area, plus a little extra for the stroke, to both the length and width. A standard cue is 57–58 inches; shorter cues can help in tight rooms.

How to use it

  1. 1Choose the table size.
  2. 2Enter the cue length in inches.
  3. 3Read the minimum room dimensions.

Worked example

an 8 ft table (88 × 44 in playing area) with a 57-inch cue needs a room of about 88 + 2 × 57 + 12 = 214 inches long by 170 inches wide (about 5.4 × 4.3 m).

Common use cases

  • Planning a games room
  • Choosing a table size
  • Home renovation

Frequently asked questions
