About the Age Grade Calculator
The age grade calculator compares a race time with the world-record standard for your age and sex, giving a percentage that lets runners of different ages compare performances fairly. It uses approximate world-record times and a simplified age factor; official age grading uses the detailed WMA tables. About 60% is local-club standard and 80% is national class.
How to use it
- 1Enter your race time.
- 2Enter your age and select your sex.
- 3Choose the distance and press Calculate.
Worked example
a 40-year-old man running 5 km in 22:00 scores about 756 × 1.04 ÷ 1,320 ≈ 60% on this simplified scale.
How it works
Formula
Age Grade (%) = (Age-Adjusted World Record ÷ Your Time) × 100
Common use cases
- Comparing results across age groups
- Tracking performance as you age
- Club competitions
