About the Stride Length Calculator
The stride length calculator estimates step length two ways: from height (about 41.5% of height) and from a measured walk (distance ÷ steps). The measured method is more accurate and can be entered into a pedometer or fitness tracker.
How to use it
- 1Enter your height in centimetres.
- 2Walk a measured distance and count your steps.
- 3Enter steps and distance to compare both estimates.
Worked example
at 170 cm the height-based estimate is about 70.6 cm; walking 700 m in 1,000 steps gives a measured step of 70 cm.
Common use cases
- Calibrating a pedometer
- Running form analysis
- Converting steps to distance
